Danny had a day off, so we decided to check out Pocheon Art Valley, which is about an hour drive north of Seoul. The art valley was established in what used to be a granite quarry. The
quarry was operated from the later part of the 1960s up until the mid 1990s.
After production was closed, the quarry had been left unattended with the
surrounding environment destroyed until it was rebuilt into a cultural and art
space. There are exhibition rooms, a cafe, an outdoor performance stage, walking
paths, and a monorail. The Cheonjuho Lake was formed in a pool dug to excavate
granite that was filled with rain and spring water. The surroundings were very beautiful and the kids had a ball checking out all the art and enjoying some fun activities in the great outdoors.
